It excels for both astrophotography and visual observation, boasting extra-low dispersion "ED" optics for reduced chromatic aberration, a dual-speed Crayford-style focuser, and impeccable fit and finish. The front end features a fully multicoated, air-spaced 110mm (4.3") doublet objective with one element made from extra-low dispension glass, which significantly reduces chromatic aberration - and the associated color fringing around bright objects - compared to standard optical glass. Everything about Orion's Premium 110mm F/7.0 ED Refractor Telescope says quality. The baffled aluminum tube sports a retractable lens shade. The machined aluminum 2" Crayford-style focuser provides ultra-smooth focusing as well as coarse and fine focus control. It handles heavy cameras and accessories (1.25" compression-ring adapter included) and rotates for optimal camera positioning. Another nice touch: an engraved millimeter scale on the focuser drawtube, which can be especially helpful for imaging.
