You should be able to see Comet Lulin with the naked eye on a dark
night in February. Comets are notoriously unpredictable with some,
like Comet Holmes and Comet McNaught in 2008, brightening without
warning. Perhaps Comet Lulin will have a surprise in store for us
also.
To find Comet Lulin, locate Spica in the wee hours of the mornings of
February 15 –17 and you should find Lulin above Spica by 3° - well
within a binocular field of view.. On February 24 Lulin will be
directly below Saturn. On February 27 it will be directly below
Regulus.
